Nature inside and out

An exhibition of paintings by

John Lincoln - Mary Kemp - Tony Nero - René Viner

On until the end of January 2012

A glorious display of sumptuous colours and textures inspired by our natural world aptly describes this current exhibition at Andronicas World of Coffee at Peterborough Garden Park.

Delights for the eye and the taste buds

Some of the finer things in life are where you'd least expected to find them. A modern, architecturally stunning space flooded with light, just perfect for showcasing art. Here you can enjoy a gourmet coffee made from carefully selected beans ground on the premises or if you prefer a traditional English cream tea, there is no better choice than Andronicas World of Coffee.

This exhibition is a 'must see' and if you haven't already experienced this 'little piece of London' just off the Eye roundabout, do pop in. It is definitely worth it: Andronicas is London quality at local prices and as a special treat, all visitors to the launch of the exhibition will also enjoy a 10% discount on all orders from the Andronicas Menu.

Curator and artist, René Viner says "Nature inside and out describes perfectly the inspiration for this visual feast of art work."

Additional information about the artists

John Lincoln demonstrates clearly how nature and natural form have long been the primary sources for his work.   He lives at the edge of the Fens in south Lincolnshire.   Those flatlands, characterised by big skies and a multi-coloured landscape of intensively farmed fields bounded by deep ditches and channelled rivers trimmed with blood-red poppies and pink campions, along the high banks and low washes, are an inspiration. Giles Watson - teacher and poet writes: "To walk into John Lincoln's studio is to pass, in a heightened state of awareness, by the borders of an ancient wood on the edge of undrained fen, as a low sun slants across the landscape and turns the leaves translucent. There is warmth and a vibrancy of colour which heighten this sense of epiphany

Mary Kemp looks closer to home. Originally from Leicestershire where the fields roll like waves to the horizon, Mary moved to Peterborough and continued painting under the open skies of the fens. Some years ago, she acquired an allotment with lots of weeds and insects and it seemed to stretch for miles. After a few years she almost tamed it, but never completely. These pictures document her life there and show a few of her successes.

Tony Nero, whose work is so diverse it is impossible to pigeon hole, has impressed local art lovers as well as discerning audiences nationally. He has an exquisite talent for portraiture and his impressive collection of black heroes has been acclaimed locally, nationally and internationally. His skill with a paintbrush knows no bounds and this is clear to see in his beautifully executed still life paintings where he brings the beauty of nature indoors.

René Viner draws her inspiration from sky, sea and landscape: the surrounding countryside, the magnificent expanse of sky, which dominates in this area of undulating fields and waterways and, of course, the coast. Her richly textured and atmospheric paintings are semi-abstract and expressionistic. René does not attempt to mimic nature but rather describes the qualities of a subjective experience. "My paintings express my view of the world intuitively, which I hope encourages each person to 'feel' their own interpretation of what they see in my work".
